Today’s post is a major #TBT, I bought a foundation I haven’t worn in years! The L’Oréal True Match Foundation.
I bought the shade W1 Porcelain. I like to start off with a really light base and build colour on top such as contour, bronzer, and blush. To be honest, right now all my foundations are just too dark. It’s that awkward time at the very end of winter when your skin hasn’t seen the sun in the longest amount of time possible, haha.
I’m loving this so much right now. I find it has a satin finish. Not too matte that it looks cakey or like a mask and definitely not dewy which is nice since I have oily skin.
Pardon my horrifically banged up nails, getting them done soon, I swear!
At $17.99 this is a great mid-range price for a foundation. I find this really easy to blend with a brush like the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush (so reasonably priced and amazing). I’ve also applied this with fingers but I find the blending takes more time and it can streak if you aren’t careful.
I’ve been reaching for this over my NARS Sheer Glow, so that ought to tell you something!

Here’s a quick run-down of my favourite shower products that make me feel shiny and new. I like to use products that smell amazing and don’t irritate my scalp or skin since they’re quite sensitive. These are the ones I’ve been loving.
If any of you read Caroline Hirons’ blog, you might be familiar with the OGX Kukui Oil Shampoo and Conditioner. If you don’t read Caroline’s blog; where have you been?! That woman is a skin care goddess! She mentioned this fantastic duo and of course, I had to pick it up. I had tried the Coconut Milk version from their range in the past but it really weighed my hair down. I think it’s because I have fine hair and a lot of it. The Kukui Oil on the other hand is incredible! It doesn’t weigh my hair down at all and makes it feel light as air. It also smells like a Hawaiian vacation in a bottle. It helps keep frizz at bay although to be safe I still add a drop of Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil to my damp hair.
I have eczema which causes my skin to become very dry and irritated. Aveeno Skin Relief Shower & Bath Oil is a holy grail product for me and my crazy skin issues. It’s relatively expensive for how much I use each shower but the results are incredible. This oil is used after you’ve cleansed your skin in the same way you would condition your hair. It has colloidal oatmeal in it which calms my skin down like nothing else. It isn’t heavy or greasy and leaves my skin feeling comfortable and soft.
I’m a huge fan of Soap & Glory Foam Call Shower and Bath Body Wash. I also love their other scents like Sugar Crush and Clean on Me but this is the one I’ve got on rotation at the moment. It has a very delicate fresh fruity scent and for some reason their heavily scented products don’t irritate my skin. Yay! For anyone with sensitive skin, you know the struggle is real on this. It feels clean and smells fresh without leaving a residue or stripping my skin of its natural moisture barrier.
Those are my top shower products I’m using but of course I have loads more hiding away in my cupboard. I’ll keep you all updated on what gets rotated in next!

I’ve put together a small pile of my current must-have products. Some of them are staples that I’ve repurchased many times, and others are new found loves. There are many more in my stash but one blog post for all of them would be huge! I look forward to doing more posts like this in the future.
I think I’ll go in the order I do my makeup so we’ll start with a moisturizer.
Origins GinZing Energy-Boosting Moisturizer: This is a product I’ve repurchased multiple times and it was my introduction to the Origins range. I am obsessed with this! It’s a gel cream formula with an incredible orange scent. It moisturizes effectively while being lightweight and non-greasy. It’s also a fantastic base for makeup. I love it for my oily, acne prone skin.
Maybelline Master Prime in 300 (Blur + Redness Control): This primer has a slight green tinge that helps cancel out redness and yes, it does blur imperfections slightly. It’s not a miracle product but it does what it says and helps my makeup last a few hours longer than when I go without.
NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation in Mont Blanc: The name of this foundation is somewhat misleading. This foundation is all day (a workday, at least), and definitely weightless, but it is not luminous. For me, that’s a wonderful thing! I have very oily skin and this foundation resists shine for an incredible amount of time without touch-ups. It has medium to full coverage and is buildable. Be sure to moisturize as this product does cling to dry patches.
Make Up For Ever HD Pressed Powder: The thing I like best about this powder is that it doesn’t alter the colour of my foundation or add any extra coverage. There are some days when I want more coverage/colour but on the days I don’t, this powder is perfection! It softens the look of my skin and never looks cakey. It also keeps me matte for hours on end without touch ups. This is a new love and one I know I’ll continue reaching for.
Benefit Gimme Brow in Medium/Deep: This tinted gel has fibers that add volume to my brows. Whether I’m using it over a powder, gel, or pencil product, it goes on like a dream and adds definition back to the individual hairs. It doesn’t have any red pigment which keeps everything looking a natural shade. When I use it on its own, it looks fantastic as well. This will forever be in my collection.
Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze (or On and On Bronze in the UK): In case you didn’t know, I’m from Canada! Despite the name differences, this cream eyeshadow is an absolute necessity to me. The colour looks a little darker in the picture than it actually is. It’s a lovely shimmery (not glittery) gold/bronze. I swipe a bit of this on my lids and it stays put for 8 hours. I don’t even use an eye shadow primer. I wear this on a daily basis unless I decide to try something new for fun.
L’Oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions Mascara in Waterproof Blackest Black: I bought this mascara during a recent drugstore haul and have been amazed with it! It holds a curl all day and into the night, adds tons of length and great separation. It’s a bit more difficult to remove but I think it’s definitely worth the effort!
Maybelline Color Sensational Lipcolor in Let Me Pink: I normally go for nudes or reds when it comes to lipstick. I decided to venture out of my comfort zone with this one and I’m so glad I did! It’s a wonderful flush of pink on my lips that I’m absolutely loving for spring. It’s not shimmery and has a velvet finish on me. The lasting power is quite good and when it does fade, it leaves a stain of colour on the lips that still looks nice.
Alright everyone, I think I’ve bombarded you with enough favourites for now. I’ll keep you updated on my current favourites and I hope you’re all having a great week so far!
