Hi Everyone!

This is a quick favourites post that’s designed to enable you if you’re feeling spendy and looking for something new to pick up, haha. I grabbed five things out of my makeup bag that I love… maybe you’ll love them too!

Mary-Lou Manizer Highlight | Must Haves

Hi Everyone!

Who doesn’t have this amazing highlighter? If you spend any time on YouTube following beauty gurus, you might have heard about it… a million times, haha.


Well, I was on the anti-bandwagon, as I often am with “over hyped” products. Guess what, this is definitely worth the hype. The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer is a golden highlight powder that packs a serious punch!


My favourite thing about this product is that it’s buildable. You can use different types of brushes to get different effects as well. A stiffer, more dense brush will give you a stronger colour payoff. Whereas a big fluffy brush will give you a natural, ethereal glow. I also own the Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Powder in the shade Brilliant but I have to admit I reach for The Balm one more often.

Even though my skin type is combination-oily, I can still use highlighters with proper placement. By avoiding the forehead it doesn’t look greasy. Instead, I sweep this in a C shape from above the tail of my eyebrow down and along my cheekbone. I avoid bringing it onto the apples of my cheeks. A slight dusting over the bridge of the nose and cupid’s bow gives a nice balanced effect.

Whether you want something for everyday, or a full-on night out strobing effect, Mary-Lou‘s got you covered.

Skin Care Series: Vitamin A | First Impression

Hi Everyone!

I’m trying something new, a vitamin regimen! I’m taking the recommended daily dose of Vitamin A everyday with my lunch. I also started cutting open the capsules and applying it directly to my skin. I’m using Jamieson Vitamin A capsules since they contain natural carrier ingredients (soybean oil, etc).

I do this after using my favourite cleansing and toning products. My post on cleansing can be found here and the one on toning is here.

My internet research has shown that some people have had success clearing their acne with a similar regimen. I don’t plan on keeping this up forever as Vitamin A can build up to toxic levels over time (especially if taking more than the recommended dose, so just don’t). I’ll be keeping this up for a month or so to see if there’s any improvement. If there is I might continue for a few months hoping for lasting results.

Apparently it can reduce the amount of oil the skin produces which will then reduce the amount of blocked pores and acne. So far I’ve noticed my skin texture is improved after around one week of use. The skin that isn’t affected by acne looks more smooth and pores are less visible. I’m still dealing with (some, but less) acne. I read that part takes at least a few weeks before seeing major improvement *crosses fingers*.


I’m using one capsule in the morning as moisturizer (my oily skin doesn’t need more) and two capsules at night (drinks it up overnight). Side note: don’t forget the SPF during the day since it can increase sensitivity to sun exposure.
