Drugstore Haul Part 2 | Review

Hi Everyone!

As promised, I’m reviewing a foundation; Rimmel Lasting Finish 25H Foundation with Comfort Serum. That’s a long name but it is somewhat descriptive of the product inside…

a tiny pump of the product…
first bit of blending…
after more blending…

Hopefully you can see from the pictures that when you first start blending this product out it goes¬†extremely¬†streaky! I was doing my makeup before work today and I was so scared I would have to wash it off and start again. I think this is due to the “comfort serum”. It feels sticky on the skin when it’s first applied but as it sets that feeling goes away.

finished look...
finished look… I’m wearing shade 010 Light Porcelain (Please excuse my hair, I’m getting it cut and toned on Sunday! Hahaha)

I blended this foundation out really quickly and made sure to smooth out any streaks. It wasn’t as full coverage as the packaging claims so I added another layer.

Now, when it comes to 25 hour foundation… that is just insanity. This did not last 25 hours but it did last really well throughout most of my full day at work. At around 4pm it was a little shiny and by the time I got home at 7pm it looked very oily. I wouldn’t fault the foundation for that though! As usual, I set it with powder in the morning but didn’t touch up during the day for the sake of this review.

Final thoughts… This is a good drugstore foundation if you have oily to combination skin and like a medium to full coverage. I’m hesitant to recommend this to dry skin types even though it has “comfort serum”, the finish is quite matte when it sets and I believe it may cling to dry patches.

Drugstore Haul Part 1 | Mini-Review

Yesterday I was at my favourite store, Shoppers Drug Mart, and a few things caught my eye!

all the goodies...

The first thing I was really excited about was something from the La Roche-Posay counter; their Effaclar BB Blur.

This cream-mousse promises all day matte skin and blurred pores/imperfections. I tested it out today (which was a full crazy day at work) and it held up relatively well in the early spring heat. It definitely got a little shiny at around 2pm but I didn’t even bother blotting (I told myself it was a healthy glow, haha). I really like this product and think it’s got an amazing feel on the skin, blends excellently, and offers light to medium coverage. Right now there are two shade options, Light, and Medium. Kind of a bummer but if you’re fair skinned I definitely recommend giving these a swatch! The colour was a surprisingly good match. I would recommend setting with a powder if you’re an oily gal like me, though!

The next thing my eyes honed in on was another base product that impressed me. Stay tuned for the next mini-review!
